This 1-day course teaches essential emergency skills to respond quickly and safely to incidents involving infants and children. Suitable for childcare staff and parents, it meets EYFS guidance and leads to a Ofqal regulated Level 3 qualification valid for 3 years.

The Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a one-day course that equips learners with the knowledge and skills to respond to emergency situations involving babies and young children.

It’s designed in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and is ideal for:

  • Early years staff with a Level 2 or 3 childcare qualification

  • Those working in settings where partial paediatric first aid cover is acceptable

  • Parents, guardians, grandparents and others caring for children

  • Roles and responsibilities of an emergency paediatric first aider

  • Assessing an emergency situation

  • Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child

  • Putting a casualty into the recovery position

  • CPR and defibrillation (AED) for infants and children

  • Choking

  • Treating minor injuries

  • Managing bites, stings and seizures

  • Responding to bleeding and shock

  • Assessment. There are practical assessment for a variety of activities such as CPR, Recovery Position etc. Delegates will also complete a short multiple-choice based assessment at the end of the day.
