  • What First Aid course do I need?
Tt depends on your workplace risk level: Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) – for low-risk environments (e.g. offices, retail). First Aid at Work (FAW) – for higher-risk settings (e.g. warehouses, manufacturing). Paediatric First Aid – for early years, education and childcare settings. We’re happy to help you choose the right one — just get in touch.
  • How long do First Aid certificates last?
All First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work certificates are valid for 3 years. We recommend refreshing your skills every year with a short update session, although this is not legally required.
  • Can I renew my First Aid at Work certificate?
Yes — if your First Aid at Work certificate is still in date (or has just expired), you can take the 2-day First Aid at Work Requalification course. If it’s been expired too long, you’ll need to take the full 3-day course again. If you hold a Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, you will need to retake the 1-dau course within 3 years.
  • How many people can attend each course?
For in-house courses, there is a strict maximum of 12 people per group. This keeps the training interactive and ensures everyone gets time to practise.
  • Where are the courses held?
We offer two options: On-site at your workplace (UK-wide) for group bookings - Blended learning is also in this option Open courses at our training centre in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire
  • What will I learn on the course?
Depending on the course, you’ll cover: CPR (adult or paediatric) Use of an AED (defibrillator) Recovery position Bleeding, burns, choking, shock, seizures Incident reporting and responsibilities as a first aider We tailor the content to your workplace where possible.
  • Is the course practical?
Yes — all our courses are highly hands-on. You’ll practise CPR on manikins, bandaging, recovery position and more. Our trainers use real-world scenarios to make the learning stick.
  • Will I get a certificate?
Yes — you’ll receive a digital certificate that meets HSE requirements and is valid for 3 years.
  • Who should be trained?
The HSE requires that employers provide a suitable number of trained first aiders based on a first aid needs assessment. We can advise you on the right course type and number of delegates depending on your risk level, staffing, and location.
  • Who are IOSH?
IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) is the world’s leading professional body for health and safety practitioners. Based in the UK, they set globally recognised standards for training, including the widely respected IOSH Managing Safely course. Employers and regulatory bodies recognise IOSH certification as proof of competent, practical safety leadership.
  • What does IOSH Managing Safely actually cover?
It’s a practical course designed to give managers and supervisors the knowledge and tools to take control of health and safety in their teams. The course covers: Risk assessment and control Understanding responsibilities under the law Incident investigation and reporting Measuring and improving safety performance The focus is on practical application, not academic theory — everything is designed to be used back in the workplace.
  • What’s the difference between IOSH Managing Safely and the Refresher?
IOSH Managing Safely is the full 3-day course, designed for first-time delegates or those who haven’t refreshed in a while. The IOSH Managing Safely Refresher is a 1-day update for those who have previously completed the full course. It reinforces key principles, introduces current best practice, and encourages the use of the Plan-Do-Check-Act safety model.
  • What are the benefits of IOSH training for our organisation?
Training your managers with IOSH Managing Safely helps you: Reduce accidents and incidents Lower downtime, absence and insurance costs Improve legal compliance and audit readiness Build a proactive safety culture Boost morale and leadership accountability Improve operational performance and protect your reputation
  • Who is IOSH Managing Safely suitable for?
Anyone with supervisory or management responsibilities — from team leaders and shift managers to senior heads of department. It’s applicable across all sectors and ideal for organisations aiming to improve safety accountability and leadership.
  • How long does IOSH certification last?
There’s no formal expiry date, but IOSH recommends refreshing your knowledge every 3 years. That’s why we offer the Refresher course — to keep your knowledge up to date with current guidance and best practice.
  • Is there an assessment?
Yes — both the full and refresher courses include assessments: Managing Safely: A multiple-format test and a short practical risk assessment task (completed after the course). Refresher: A multiple-format test at the end of the session. Don’t worry — we support delegates throughout, and our trainers explain everything clearly.
  • What’s the difference between virtual classroom and on-site training?
Both delivery methods offer the same accredited certificate — it’s just the format that differs: Virtual Classroom: Live, trainer-led sessions delivered via Microsoft Teams. Great for remote teams, flexible scheduling, or when travel isn’t ideal. On-Site: We come to your workplace to train your group in person. This is ideal for team-based learning, site-specific examples, and practical discussions. You get the same quality either way — just in a format that fits your team.
  • What's the ideal group size for on-site training?
Our recommended group size is 4–15 delegates per session to ensure strong interaction and effective learning.
